Bungie Awarded $12 Million in Damages Following Lawsuit Against Destiny 2 Cheat Seller

Bungie has been granted a $12 million damages award after winning a lawsuit against the owner of VeteranCheats.

Bungie has won a lawsuit against a Destiny 2 cheat seller, Mihai Claudiu-Florentin, who marketed one of the most popular cheats for the game known as VeteranCheats, resulting in a $12 million damages award.

As reported by The Game Post, Bungie initially filed the lawsuit in 2021 and in February 2023, it requested $12 million in damages against the cheat seller. According to court records, Claudiu-Florentin was involved in the development and sale of cheat software for Destiny 2, which allowed players to cheat in a variety of ways, such as improving their accuracy and gaining the ability to see through walls.

On April 26, a US District Court issued its ruling in favor of Bungie, confirming that Claudiu-Florentin engaged in copyright infringement, violated the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and committed "tortious interference with Bungie's contractual relationship with other Destiny 2 users," among other offenses.

Bungie has pursued legal action against multiple cheat sellers, including a recent victory against AimJunkies. In February, the company requested a $6.7 million default judgment against LaviCheats. Additionally, last month, Bungie stated its plans to take action against third-party peripherals that are used for cheating in Destiny 2.
