Star Fox-like roguelite Whisker Squadron: Survivor is getting a campaign.
Whisker Squadron: Survivor, a Star Fox-like cosmic roguelite on-rails shooter featuring brave cats, will soon have an "anti-capitalist revenge" story campaign that will put the protagonist Olivia against AI-powered robots who destroyed her house.
"The galaxy has become overrun with robotic bugs known as The Swarm. They multiply, divide, and conquer, leaving endless carnage in their wake. It is up to you and your crew of feline pilots to exterminate this threat for the good of all animalkind."

Whisker Squadron allows you to customize your ship and enjoy fighting waves of enemies surrounded by neon-lit sceneries. Every run lasts 20-30 minutes, so you won't get bored easily. Most importantly, the game offers variety with new mods you can unlock and secret paths that should make every trip memorable.

The new campaign, launching on June 19, adds new enemies, mechanics, and redesigns. Earlier this year, the game's director Aaron San Filippo boldly declared his dislike for AI (thanks, GamesRadar), saying he'd add voiceovers to Whisker Squadron: Survivor, "and we're not going to use fucking AI to do it."
"I will find the money to pay humans and it will be awesome. AI voices are a technical marvel, and also like most current AI creative endeavors, lifeless and ethically dubious."
As for the new campaign, he and his team are "super excited about the direction it's going."
"The game is starting to feel like... FTL meets Starfox??" Yes, indeed.
