Check out 13-Minute In-Depth Gameplay Overview for Replaced

This much-anticipated 2.5D action platformer is coming next year.

Yura Zhdanovich, founder of Sad Cat Studios and game director of REPLACED, a 2.5D sci-fi action platformer set in Phoenix City, has revealed some of the major features in the 13-minute long gameplay overview.

He talked about the studio's approach to creating satisfying and impactful combat, showcased an open world where you enjoy the freedom to explore, talk to different characters, find hidden objects, and gave some hints about the game's deep and meaningful narratives.

The stylish retro style of the game with the pixelated graphics is what appeals to us at first sight. While watching the video, I was amazed by the stunning atmosphere the game presents. Yura explained how the realistic and interactive environments were created:

“All the compositions are manually set up, as you can see, it dynamically reacts to what’s going on.

We have put an enormous amount of care into crafting the environment to complement the artistic direction of the game. Every tree, car, bush, and every single rock has been manually assembled into a cinematic composition.”

The team has been working hard to avoid “the camera cuts as much as possible,” putting a lot of effort into creating an immersive environment and story for players.

After its announcement at the Xbox Show at E3 in 2021, the game quickly garnered lots of anticipation. It once had a 2022 release date, but as more features and content have been added, the game is expected to arrive next year. If you are interested in learning more about the game, feel free to check it out on Steam and follow the developer on Twitter, where the developers share additional visuals and news.
