Check Out This Incredible Anime-Style 2D Character Rig Set Up in Spine

With his new project, Lucas Gallo aims to pay tribute to Mamoru Hosoda's Belle.

As some of you know, while 80 Level primarily serves as a hub for 3D Artists, sometimes we can't help but feature an occasional 2D artwork or two, especially when it's something as stunning as 2D Game Animator Lucas Gallo's latest WIP project.

Recently, the artist showcased an early version of his outstanding two-dimensional rig depicting Belle, the alter-ego of Mamoru Hosoda's 2021 animated film Ryu to Sobakasu no Hime's main character, Suzu Naito. Aiming to pay homage to Hosoda's animation and set up a sequence of the character singing, the artist uses Spine, a tool designed specifically for 2D game animation, to bring his vision to life.
