Check Out This Rock Arch Built in an Upcoming Cozy City-Building Game

The developer showcases animations demonstrating the creation of diverse landscapes and adding various architecture.

Take a look at this animation in which a landscape emerges within a split second, being instantly accompanied by a cozy house. The work was shared by Björn Ottosson, a Game Programming Teacher and Consultant and a creator of Oklab, who previously worked at Frostbite and EA DICE for 10 years. The artist works on a cozy city-building game and showcases animations created for the project.

Björn Ottosson shared some technical details behind the creation of the environment, saying that the rocks are based on a hexagonal grid and tiling voxel-like 3D shapes:

The artist also explained how the quads self-align on the grass, pointing out that he used an automatic generation of the irregular grid, adjusting to terrain slopes and existing buildings:
