More than twenty years after People Can Fly's classic Painkiller was released in 2004, the iconic first-person shooter will be back later this year.
This remake is developed by Anshar Studios and published by 3D Realms and Saber Interactive. It won't keep fans waiting for too long, as it'll be set to release in the fall.
The new Painkiller boasts some brand new features, such as a co-op mode where you can team up with up to three friends to battle through hordes of demons. You can choose from four distinct characters, Ink, Void, Sol, and Roch, each with unique abilities. It also introduces a new tarot cards system, which "enhances your abilities and combine them with other players to obliterate your foes. "
According to the introduction from the developer Anshar Studios' official website, they've worked with Bloober Team on the psychological horror Layers of Fear and cyberpunk thriller Observer: System Redux, as well as Larian Studios on Baldur's Gate 3 and Divinity Original Sin 2, before working with Saber Interactive on this upcoming new title.
