The publisher of miHoYo's ARPG has issued three subpoenas aiming to reveal the identities of Twitter users who shared the game's then-unreleased content.
Cognosphere, the division of miHoYo which publishes Genshin Impact, has initiated legal proceedings against leakers of the ARPG title.
As reported by Axios, Cognosphere has issued three subpoenas this month requesting the names, phone numbers, IP addresses, and any "other information within your possession, custody or control, sufficient to identify” Twitter users Merlin Impact, Genshin World, and XWides.
All three Twitter accounts have shared images and information regarding then-unreleased content for Genshin Impact, which, as the outlet notes, could have been obtained through test versions of the game.
Axios also says that the publisher had earlier requested that the three Twitter users remove multiple tweets from their accounts claiming that the leaked content constituted copyright infringement. However, these tweets are still available on their pages.
According to an earlier report from Torrent Freak, Cognosphere had previously already taken some legal actions against leakers.
In January, the publisher issued multiple DMCA subpoenas against various groups and individuals who leaked undisclosed information about Genshin Impact. This included the popular House of Daena Discord channel that shared Genshin Impact content ahead of the company's intended schedule.
