One of the most ambitious fan-made projects has finally been released.
Black Mesa, once known as a small mod, is now available as a full-fledged remake of Half-Life. Developer Crowbar Collective released a 1.0 version of Black Mesa which reimagines the 1998 first-person shooter adding smarter enemies, great-looking levels, and more.
Black Mesa was originally launched as a mod for Half-Life 2 in 2012, then Valve gave them the permission to develop a standalone commercial game. Last year, the developers shared the ending featuring the Xen levels, and now the complete remake is available.
Crowbar Collective is going to continue updating the game. The developers are working on a Definitive Edition that will add additional gameplay tweaks and improvements.
