The creator used 18 Volucam cameras to capture the expressions.

If you are a fan of motion capture projects, this cool project should certainly impress you. The developer of the R3DS tool Andrew Krovopuskov shared a new demo that showcases some very complex facial expressions that the artist managed to capture and project onto a 3D model. According to the author, the face motions were captured on 18 Volucam cameras of 12 MP each and processed with R3DS Wrap4D, an extended version of Wrap designed specifically for 4D processing that takes a sequence of textured 3D scans as input and produces a sequence of meshes with a consistent topology as an output.
