"Why should 3D Artists have all the fun?" probably crossed the mind of 2D Animator and Illustrator known online as Miiko as they presented an impressive and expressive 2D rig of Jax from The Amazing Digital Circus series.
Currently WIP, the headshot model already features tweakable eyes, ears, eyebrows, and head, with the artist planning to finish by rigging Jax's mouth. The goal of the project is to learn more about animating cartoon-like expressions. As for the creator's software of choice, Miiko has set up the rig using Live2D Cubism, an application that lets you animate drawn illustrations directly without having to reconstruct them in 3D.
