Course: Creating Procedural Environments in Houdini

Learn how you can harness the power of Houdini.

Check out a course from Gnomon and Environment Artist Wojtek Piwowarczyk on how to create a 3D environment entirely inside Houdini. The course explains every step of procedural environment creation and discusses the advantages of implementing a non-destructive workflow.

The 10-chapter guide covers a methodology and workflow for creating environments for VFX film trailers and game cinematics. The course features eight hours of in-depth Houdini training on "how to expertly structure a project from the initial block-out and lighting setup, through professional terrain-generation techniques and how to scatter vegetation, to the procedural modeling of architecture and setting up complex shaders."

The instructor has also shared tips on optimizing and speeding up workflow by setting up procedural tools and using VEX, Houdini’s native programming language. You can find the full course here.
