The show is being created in collaboration with the MAPPA studio.
The first trailer for the Lazarus anime series was shown at the San Diego Comic-Con 2023 festival. The show is being created by Shinichiro Watanabe, the creator of Cowboy Bebop, and Chad Stahelski, the director of John Wick.
The one-and-a-half-minute trailer focuses mainly on the main character, who, it seems, has to escape from prison. The video also shows several other characters. The new anime will take place in 2052 where a special team of five agents are trying to find Dr. Skinner, a Nobel laureate who created a cure for all diseases but which leads the patient to death in three years.
Shinichiro Watanabe states the new project will be the "culmination of his entire career." The MAPPA studio, which has previously worked on Attack on Titan and Chainsaw Man, is creating the visuals. The anime's action scenes are handled by Chad Stahelski, known for directing the John Wick films.
