Players have spent a total of 71,000 years on Blackreef.
Arkane Studios has announced that its time-loop first-person shooter, Deathloop, has garnered over 5 million players since its launch in September 2021.
"Thank you for joining us on this adventure to Blackreef. We hope you enjoyed your stay," the studio wrote.
Together with the announcement, the developer also disclosed intriguing statistics about the players' playthroughs. For example, they revealed that 5 million players who have played the game equate to the game's lead character Colt spending nearly 70,933 years on Blackreef island.
The devs also shared that the Spring Heeled trinket was the most frequently used item by both Colt and Julianna. Additionally, only 4,446 players (0.08% of all player base) opted to equip Colt with the Poisoned Chalice, an item that only harms his health without any benefits in return.
Arkane also revealed the most common types of death – considering that the game is a first-person shooter, quite expectedly 79% of players have been killed by bullets.
Released in 2021 exclusively for PlayStation 5 and PC, Deathloop is a shooter that follows two rival assassins trapped in a time loop on a mysterious island. While the game received positive reviews and accolades that year, its sales figures had been never revealed before and this announcement marks the first time that Arkane has shared substantial information about the game's numbers.
However, the developer did not reveal how much of the current player count can be attributed to the game's release on Xbox Series X|S or its availability on PlayStation Plus' Extra plan in September 2022.
