Bungie announced that the expansion pre-orders have surpassed one million copies and said it could become the game's most pre-ordered add-on ever.
The number of pre-orders of the upcoming expansion for Destiny 2, The Witch Queen, has exceeded one million copies. Bungie reported that according to the sales dynamics, The Witch Queen is on its way to setting a record for pre-orders among all add-ons for Destiny 2.
The announcement came just a day after the smash acquisition of Bungie by Sony for $3.6 billion. The company is reported to stay an "independent, multi-platform studio and publisher" retaining its creative freedom over the Destiny 2 franchise. Both Bungie and Sony emphasized that The Witch Queen expansion won't have console-exclusive features on PlayStation.
Along with confirming the preorder numbers, the studio also released a new Witch Queen trailer that demonstrates several new awesome-looking exotic weapons, armor, and a crafting system. Among other things, the video showed several new abilities, including those available from the Glaive – a new type of melee weapon.
The Witch Queen expansion will be released on February 22. A pre-order on Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Deluxe Edition includes Cosmographicum Exotic Ghost Shell, The Enigma Exotic Emote, and a new emblem as well as Seasons 16-19, two Year-5 Dungeons, an Exotic SMG, catalyst, ornament, and an Exotic Sparrow.
