Disco Elysium Maker Is Seeking Writers For Its Next Project

Join some of the best storytellers.

ZA/UM, the developer of Disco Elysium, announced they are hiring writers for future projects. "We’re looking for ambitious and highly experimental individuals who are eager to take on large-scale artistic and technical challenges," wrote the team.

The job description states prior games industry experience isn’t necessary, but they need you to have "extremely strong writing and editing skills".

Responsibilities:

  • Designing, writing, editing, testing, and documenting large-scale, interconnected branching dialogue flows in collaboration with assigned writing partners.
  • Providing timely feedback (both structural and stylistic) on assigned dialogues as well as the ability to accept such feedback in return.
  • Pitching, designing, and documenting original characters and major or minor subplots in collaboration with the writing team.
  • Participating in (and preparing for) regular writing team discussions.
  • Collaborating with artists, programmers, sound designers, and QA to develop characters and scenes and ensure they’re properly implemented in-engine.

Bonuses:

  • Experience working in (or leading) highly collaborative creative enterprises.
  • Working knowledge of RPG conventions.
  • Experience with node-based branching dialogue tools.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to write large volumes of extremely good prose in-line with ZA/UM’s themes and aesthetic goals.
  • Clear communication skills and an ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
