Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and Silent Hill 2 Remake could now make their way to the race.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of The Game Awards, and the global gala for the gaming industry will open its doors to more formats of game-related content, allowing DLC, remakes, and remasters to compete for all the categories.
This FAQ page specifies the new rule and the reason behind this consideration, reading that “The Game Awards aims to recognize the best creative and technical work each year, irrespective of the format of that content’s release. Expansion packs, new game seasons, DLCs, remakes, and remasters are eligible in all categories if the jury deems the new creative and technical work worthy of a nomination. Factors such as the newness of the content and its price/value should be taken into consideration.”
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
With the new rule, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, DLC of the Game of the Year in 2022, and Silent Hill 2 Remake could now make their way to the race.
This Year's Game Awards will be held on December 12 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. As an appetizer, the nominees will be unveiled by executive producer and show host Geoff Keighley during a live stream that’s coming in a few hours, at noon ET / 9 am PT / 5 pm GMT on Monday.
