The developers shared that the upcoming RPG has hit an important development milestone, so the game is now fully playable from start to finish.
BioWare has revealed that the team working on the upcoming Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has completed its "Alpha" development milestone, meaning that the game is now fully playable from start to finish.
In a blog post on the Electronic Arts website, BioWare general manager Gary McKay outlined the significance of the milestone saying that prior to it, the team had been working on different parts of the game but only now the game all came together.
And while there’s still a lot of work and polish to do, including improving the visual fidelity and iterating on gameplay features, it is the first time when the team can experience the entire game, "from the opening scenes of the first mission to the very end."
McKay also explained that now the team can use this playable build to evaluate the game’s narrative cohesion, the relationships the main character will build with others in the game's world as well as the game's pacing and the player’s progression, and based on this assessment, the developers can now iterate and polish on the things that are necessary to create a better experience for players, also using the help of the Community Council.
In addition, McKay noted that the BioWare team hopes to continue its open communication with fans keeping them updated on how the development is going.
"The Alpha milestone is an extremely important one for us, but there’s more work to be done. We also want to continue being transparent with you, our community, and keep you up to date on what we’re crafting," he wrote. "Hopefully you’ve been enjoying our development updates on Dreadwolf this year as we’ll be looking to share more in the future."
The next Dragon Age game was announced back in 2018, however, it was not until this June that BioWare finally revealed its name. Most recently, the team published several pages from the Dreadwolf's codex that make reference to long-time figures in the series such as Brother Genitivi, who appeared in Dragon Age: Origins.
