The legendary Japanese director is working on an "original AAA action game."
Dragon's Dogma Director Hideaki Itsuno has joined Chinese giant Tencent as the head of the newly-founded LightSpeed Japan Studio, which will be focusing on the development of AAA Action Games.
Earlier this year, the legendary director announced his departure from Capcom after working there for more than thirty years. During his tenure, he worked as producer or director of famous series like Power Stone, Devil May Cry, and Dragon's Dogma. He said he would devote himself to "a new game in a new environment" starting in September.
"Joining LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS is an exciting new chapter for me. With LightSpeed’s strong development capability and global network, I look forward to creating original AAA action game titles together with the amazing team and building aesthetic and innovative experiences for the global player community," said Hideaki Itsuno.
LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS is a group of studios with offices worldwide in China, the United States, Singapore, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, and New Zealand. Its Japanese studio will operate in both Tokyo and Osaka.
So far, there has been no additional information about the original title Itsuno's team is working on. Also, the job listings on their official site don’t reveal much. We might hear a bit more about Itsuno’s new project later.
