Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six: Quarantine Delayed

Ubisoft decided to change its plans.

Far Cry 6 originally had a release date of February 18, 2021, but Ubisoft decided to reschedule the release to its next fiscal year beginning April 2021 and ending March 2022. Rainbow Six: Quarantine will also be released during the same period. Ubisoft announced the news as a part of its first-half financial report. Production delays because of the pandemic and work-from-home affected the release dates and forced the company to change plans.

"Despite having moved Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine to 2021-22 to leverage their full potential in the context of production challenges caused by COVID-19, our new non-IFRS operating income targets for 2020-21 remain within the boundaries we set back in May," said Ubisoft chief financial officer Frédérick Duguet. "Being able to maximize the long-term value of our IPs while at the same time maintaining solid financial targets highlights the increasing recurring nature of our revenues, the strength of our portfolio of franchises, confidence in our holiday season release slate, and current supportive industry dynamics."

What this means is that Ubisoft is making extra cash because of the pandemic as people are playing more games at home during the lockdown. This new trend allowed Ubisoft to delay games without major damages.
