The developers receive "hundreds of queries a year".
Simulators are meant to be as realistic as possible, and Farming Simulator does such a great job that manufacturers ask the developer Giants Software to include their equipment in the game all the time.
The creators told The Guardian that they receive "hundreds of queries a year" from manufacturers of tractors, combine harvesters, trailers, balers, and seed drills about how they can feature in the game. Some even release products at the same time as the game is updated.
“In the beginning, we had to ask manufacturers to be included in the game,” said Wolfgang Ebert, Giants’ marketing manager. “Today, we have to consider who we can integrate and what benefit there is to the game – we have many, many brands waiting to be included.”
According to the article, companies share detailed engineering drawings with Giants Software so that their product can be recreated accurately and players can test it before buying it in real life.
Despite the value the studio gets from equipment manufacturers, the team reassures players that their main business remains game development.
