Fight Medieval Art Beasts In This Alchemy-Based Roguelike Deckbuilder

Enjoy the occult science based on the transmutation of matter in Hermetica, an upcoming fascinatingly bizarre roguelike turn-based card game where you get to travel through 16th-century legendary Toledo while observing art based on medieval folklore and manuscripts.

Medieval art wasn't meant to be funny at all during the time it was made, but now it's all over social media captioned and edited. And no wonder, since the style is more cartoonish than what we used to see as classic art and it makes sense these paintings became such a rich meme source due to the nature of their exaggerated imagery.

Of course, medieval art is a big source of inspiration for multiple contemporary media with video games being no exception. For example, Hermetica, an upcoming roguelike deckbuilder developed by Madrid-based studio Red Mountain is set in 16-century Spain and elegantly combines card tactical combat and potion crafting with a unique medieval art style.

Hermetica is heavily inspired by alchemy. Players start with a basic set of cards and must build their perfect deck, upgrade it by practicing Alchemy, and use it to defeat fascinatingly bizarre medieval beasts.

There are hundreds of cards in the game to collect and build your perfect deck, divided into three categories: Sulfur, Mercury, and Salt. Each card collected opens new opportunities in combat. Cards can be enhanced through the use of alchemy, which consists of combining various elements and materials to craft powerful potions and elixirs in our laboratory.

Surely, Hermetica's art direction is especially fascinating but these medieval creatures are just as dangerous as enthralling and it gets even worse at night. If the sun goes down and the map gets dark, you won't see much of a road ahead risking to face more horrible creatures to test your strength (and strategy).
