The producer is leaving the company after almost 30 years.
Final Fantasy producer Shinji Hashimoto announced he is leaving Square Enix after almost 30 years at the company.
Hashimoto announced his departure on Twitter saying that he was going to retire on May 31, 2022. He noted that he will still support the company as a Square Enix fan. The producer also shared a video message on the Square Enix Twitter account where he thanked the fans for their support of various titles he contributed to and expressed his love for meeting fans at events.
"Now, I'll be leaving the company in high spirits," he said. "But I will continue to be around and involved in entertainment, so please be assured. To everyone around the world, I hope you will continue to support Square Enix titles."
Shinji Hashimoto joined Square Enix in 1995, and since 1997 he has served as a producer on nearly every game in the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts franchises. He also served as Final Fantasy's brand manager for ten years, leaving the post in 2021.
