Final Fantasy VII Remake's Sequel Is Planned to be Revealed This Year

The devs on the original game have also shared they'll keep supporting FFVII: The First Soldier and revealed that FFVII: Ever Crisis is in the works.

In 2022, Final Fantasy VII marks its 25th anniversary as well as the whole franchise's 35-year-old history. Yesterday, on this occasion, the game's original director Yoshinori Kitase and an artist on the original '97 PlayStation release Tetsuya Nomura appealed to the community saying that they will keep supporting Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier and they are currently "at hard work" on Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis.

Kitase also shared his plans to disclose the first details on the Final Fantasy VII Remake's sequel sometime in 2022. "With regards to the long-awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake [Part 2] … there will be more information… this year if we can,” shared the director, "Within the next 12 months we want to share some information."

Currently, FFVII Remake Part 2 is in development with Naoki Hamaguchi, the co-director of FFVII Remake Part 1, taking over full directing duties, and Tetsuya Nomura taking on creating director position.

On Monday, Square Enix – the developer of the Final Fantasy franchise – celebrated the game's anniversary and thanked the fans for their support confirming that more projects based on FFVII are on the way. They also published two brand new anniversary logos including artwork from Tetsuya Nomura.
