First Season of Battlefield 2042 Is Delayed to Summer

EA called Battlefield 2042's sales "disappointing" while DICE delayed the first season of the game's release to fix the core experience and meet the fan's expectations.

DICE has officially announced that the first season of Battlefield 2042 is delayed to early summer to fix the core experience and meet the fan's expectations. The studio appealed to the players saying that it will work “on multiple fronts to address feedback and implement extensive fixes to the game.”

Meanwhile, DICE shared the details on the first season of the online shooter naming the key changes that will appear in the updates before its launch. The updates, according to the EA's blog post, will include a modified scoreboard. The developers noted that they have heeded the players' feedback and included two tables where the results of opposite teams are separated.

The devs also shared that the long-awaited voice chat would arrive soon, however, the specific date wasn't revealed. Besides, the player profile will appear in the online shooter allowing the users to get a broader overview of their career. Finally, there will also be improvements to the squad loop, the ping system, reward loop, and Portal mode.

Although DICE keeps working on Battlefield 2042 to bring the players a better experience, Electronic Arts commented on the game calling its sales "disappointing". Taking this into account, EA lowered its annual adjusted sales forecast for the fiscal year by $100 million.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson shared: "Battlefield 2042 did not meet our expectations. Some of the decision choices that we made did not resonate with our community." He also added that the company is "fully committed to realizing full potential of the game" as well as it is "fully committed" to the fans.
