WB Games veterans Steven Chiang and Shawn Foust have founded a new studio Fortis. The company currently has over 100 employees, including designer Calvin Lau, and has already acquired three game studios.
Fortis announced that it will focus primarily on the next generation of live service titles. "The founders believe online social experiences can be more positive and meaningful, and that games can become the primary form of social entertainment," the company commented.
In the new studio, Chiang, who previously was the executive VP of worldwide studios at WB Games, will take the position of president, while Foust, the former VP of central operations at WB Games, will serve as the company's COO. Lau who previously worked as a lead game designer will step into the position of the company's CPO.

The new studio is backed by Las Vegas Sands, an American casino and resort company known for the Venetian Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip that currently intends to expand by various investments like games.
Chiang shared: "Fortis' mission is to create worlds that matter, that are deeply social, across different platforms and genres, and to help build meaningful relationships and healthy communities through games. We have the massive backing and long-term commitment of Sands, an experienced executive team, and the talent of a swiftly growing worldwide team to realize our vision."
