Fortnite Chapter 4 Comes Powered by Unreal Engine 5.1

Players can now experience Nanite, Lumen, Virtual Shadow Maps, and Temporal Super Resolution on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and cloud gaming.

Epic Games has released Fortnite Chapter 4 now powered by Unreal Engine 5.1 – the company's latest system offering next-gen features such as Nanite, Lumen, Virtual Shadow Maps, and Temporal Super Resolution for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and cloud gaming.

If you aren't familiar with what UE5 has in store, here is what the new tech introduces. Nanite provides highly-detailed architectural geometry: buildings and natural landscapes are rendered from millions of polygons in real time, every little part is modeled.

Lumen offers high-quality ray-traced reflections on glossy materials and water as well as real-time global illumination at 60 FPS. Expect to see bounce lighting and characters reacting to the lighting of their surroundings.

Virtual Shadow Maps allow for highly-detailed shadowing, with each modeled detail casting a shadow. Temporal Super Resolution provides high-quality visuals at a high framerate.

To accommodate the new features, the video settings have changed on PC. Read about it here and don't forget to join our Reddit page and our Telegram channel, follow us on Instagram and Twitter, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
