Great news for all Fortnite fans.
Fortnite from Epic Games will soon get raytracing and DLSS support. The announcement was made by NVIDIA during the GeForce special event following the reveal of the new RTX 3000 series of graphics cards.
"Epic Games is turning Fortnite, which is already a pop culture sensation, into a showcase for how competitive gaming will improve with technology. Fortnite players are about to experience the stunning visuals of next-level ray tracing, AI-accelerated frame rates powered by NVIDIA DLSS, and our new low-latency esports technology suite, NVIDIA Reflex," said Matt Wuebbling, Vice President of Global GeForce Marketing at NVIDIA.
The team noted that Fortnite will support four raytraced features:
- Ray-traced Reflections. The tech will recreate the way light reflects on glossy and metal surfaces, including smooth natural mirrors like window glass and rougher surfaces like brushed metal.
- Ray-traced Shadows. The GPUs will support accurately models shadowing on many surfaces while enhancing surface and contact detail.
- Ray-traced Global Illumination. It will calculate world lighting with massively increased precision.
- Ray-traced Ambient Occlusion. The update will create subtle shadows that can highlight the slightest of surface details.
