Gamer Built a Custom One-Handed Controller to Return to PC Gaming
Joe Tomasulo explained how he created the device.
A Reddit user, Joe Tomasulo, shared his work on a one-handed controller for gaming.
The player lost his right arm in an accident and said that one of the hardest things to give up was gaming. Standard PC gaming assumes two hands, with a keyboard in one and a mouse in the other. Joe tried different setups, but none gave him the control and speed he was looking for. Instead of quitting the hobby, he started experimenting and building his own solutions.
Joe purchased a Razer Tartarus, modified the controls, hot-glued a mouse to the side, remapped inputs, and added a strap to create a rough one-handed setup, just to see if full keyboard and mouse gaming with one hand was even possible. It worked. Even the prototype allowed him to move, aim, click, shoot, and use abilities again. From there, he began designing a proper version from scratch.
The goal was to create an ergonomic, ambidextrous device with integrated mouse control, full keybind access, and reduced hand travel, built for comfort during long gaming sessions.
