Gamescom 2022 Will Be Held as an In-Person and Online Event

Gamescom‘s organisers have confirmed that this year's show will be held as a hybrid physical and online event taking place from August 24 to 28.

Gamescom‘s organisers, Koelnmesse and the German Games Industry Association (GAME), have announced that this year's trade fair will be held as a hybrid event offering both in-person and online activities. It will take place at the Koelnmesse convention centre in Cologne, Germany from August 24 to August 28.

The first day of Gamescom 2022 will be reserved for trade visitors, press, and content creators. The public who hold the tickets will be able to attend the event from August 25.

For the past two year due to the pandemic, Gamescom was forced to shift to all-digital event. Now, as it is set to be both in-person and online event, the organisers note that during this year's show they are going to adhere to a new "hygiene and safety concept" that will ensure safety for the attendees.

The organisers also introduced the new "Gamescom Goes Green" initiative designed to make the event "climate-neutral over the medium and long term through the reduction and avoidance of CO2 emissions and in the short term through carbon offset".

GAME managing director Felix Falk shared: "This year we are combining the best of both worlds: our extensive digital program with the incomparable Gamescom experience on-site. In the process, Gamescom is also once again setting new standards in 2022, for example, in matters of sustainability: with our ‘Gamescom goes green’ initiative, we will make Gamescom a special and climate-friendly event together with visitors and exhibitors".
