The Gnomon Workshop has recently launched Photorealistic Character Look Dev in Maya & Arnold, a new course on look development for visual effects by ILM Senior TD Şefki Ibrahim.
The artist discussed how he approaches the look development of a digital double and explained the process for lighting, shading, and rendering using Maya and Arnold.
Among other things, you will learn techniques to light the character model using area lights, HDRI maps, and light blockers to get the right mood.
You will also learn more about setting up shaders for eyes, including the sclera, iris, pupil, caruncle, and meniscus, using the Arnold Standard Surface shader.
