The service announced its plans to return the store to its original concept highlighting iconic classic games.
The Wheel of Time
Back in 2008, CD Projekt RED introduced its own online store, Good Old Games, that would focus on selling affordable classic games that can be run on modern systems. Rebranded in 2012 as GOG, the service team has deviated from this course starting to sell current releases as well.
In a recent blog post, GOG revealed its plans to return the store to its original concept. The team claims that the service will again focus on cult games that came out more than 10 years ago and have stood the test of time. As a first step, the service introduced the "Good Old Game" tag, where users can find more than 500 titles selected by the moderators of the CD Projekt store including Bioshock, Baldur’s Gate, Fallout, and Gothic.

However, the new titles will not disappear from the store and will continue to coexist with the old-school games. GOG just aims to highlight and "devote more attention" to the classic games.
Apparently, the move to return to the classic games roots is caused by the fact that in recent years GOG has not developed in accordance with CD Projekt's expectations, and therefore they decided to reconsider the service's strategy.
