Human beings might not be the only target audience of the prestigious director.
Sometimes, famous game directors reveal the brilliant ideas that they adopted while creating games that are seen as gems by the community and that could be a great inspiration for the fellows.
Famous Japanese game designer Hideo Kojima, a symbolic person for the Metal Gear franchise and creator of his own IP, Death Stranding, shared with Anan News the most important mindset for him as a game director.
Hideo said the fundamental is “to make something that you are satisfied with.” In his opinion, similar to artists, whose works are sometimes appraised one or two centuries after they passed by, games and films “remain as objects to be passed down through generations after their creators pass away.”
“If I make something I’m satisfied with, centuries later aliens may come and say, “that’s awesome.” I think that’s what it means to leave something behind,” he further stated. (Thanks, Automaton)
Hideo Kojima
Great works won’t be buried in history. Hideo Kojima’s work on Metal Gear started in 1987, nearly 38 years ago. The franchise is still growing and loved by many, even almost four decades later. The brand-new Death Stranding IP he created with his own Kojima Productions, despite still being as young as a toddler, has shown great potential and has been ready for several adaptations, bringing players to a broader universe.
Besides this, Hideo also answers quite a lot of interesting questions in the interview, such as what kind of talent he is looking for, his goal in life, what he would want to do if he were a teenager now, the kind of women that he thinks are attractive, things he can’t live without and more.
