How to Create Realistic Doors in Video Games

Here's a great talk by Bryan Singh on how to set up various doors in games and why this process is so hard.

Vox has published a new video related to game development. Specifically, to one aspect of it, people usually don't think too much about – doors. Doors are so common in the real world that you probably don’t stop to think about how to operate them. But for video game designers, that’s not the case. Video game doors have to interact seamlessly with their surroundings, make logical sense, and look good too. All these factors mean designing a door usually requires work from every department at a game company.

In this talk, a Game Developer who worked on Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us Bryan Singh discusses why setting up doors is so tricky, what types of in-game doors exist, and explains how to set up doors that do not destroy the immersion that the game creates.
