TexturingXYZ's Symbiote Studio unveiled Mike 4D, a hyperrealistic animated digital double created in partnership with Clear Angle Studios and DI4D. At the core of this innovation is Hyperskin 4D, a next-generation skin texturing solution, said to set a new standard for digital human realism.
First showcased at SIGGRAPH 2024, the project introduces a revolutionary 4D facial capture pipeline that generates per-frame texture maps, making the final render nearly indistinguishable from real footage. Below, you can see the original demo, which walks through the entire process, from the base mesh to the finished render. Clear Angle Studios provided high-precision performance capture, DI4D contributed advanced markerless mesh tracking, and TexturingXYZ elevated skin realism with its Hyperskin technology, offering an all-in-one solution.
Hyperskin 4D brings captured performances to life with high-resolution skin movement, making it ideal for VFX, real-time engines, or cinematic production. Its per-frame texturing captures subtle skin changes and natural facial movements for a more realistic result, preserving fine details such as wrinkles, pores, and micro-expressions through expression-based calibration. This results in a highly lifelike digital representation.
Artists receive a complete set of production-ready maps with Hyperskin 4D, including animated displacement, multichannel normals, utility maps, cavity, melanin, hemoglobin, and morphological ID masks.
