Jedi Fallen Order's Water Effects Explained

Simon Trümpler shared a new breakdown, providing a look at some of the water effects in Jedi: Fallen Order.

VFX Artist Simon "Simonschreibt" Trümpler, who recently shared a comprehensive article that provided an overview of various methods used by game developers to fake volume, has shared Splishy Splashy, a new breakdown, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the water effects in Respawn's 2019 Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Comprising five chapters, Splash, Impact, Drops, Bubbles, and Waterfalls, the new breakdown revealed some interesting facts behind the game's various water FX, explaining how the splashes were set up with mesh particles, how the game's water makes use of geometries, how the bubbles were made with two Normal Maps, and much more.
