Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Director Hopes AI Could Assist Him In Bringing More Big Game Ideas To Life

"It really annoys me that the games take so much time, because I have more ideas than I have time."

Daniel Vávra

Creating games is never an easy task, not to mention working on a game as massive and as successful as Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The newly released sequel offers around 100 hours of gameplay time for the main story and side quests altogether, and its scripts exceed 2.2 million words, more than the current Guinness record holder, Baldur’s Gate III.

Having sold a million copies on the release day and two million in two weeks, the game currently stands at a proud 94% positive review rating on Steam, a rating recognized by over 71k players on the platform.

But behind all these shiny figures are massive works and corresponding pressures, making it a "really tough" experience for Daniel Vávra, director and co-founder of Warhorse Studios. In a podcast with The Game Business, he admitted, "I had some serious health issues from all the stress. I really need to slow down a little bit."

At the same time, many big ideas, which, according to him, have huge potential as Kingdom Come: Deliverance, linger in his mind that he would love to pursue but couldn't yet, due to the time required to produce games and his desire to prepare them properly without chaos. A dilemma situation is here, "It really annoys me that the games take so much time, because I have more ideas than I have time."

When it comes to a solution to the situation, Vávra sees artificial intelligence as an opportunity. "I hope that the AI revolution will help with this, where in the future we will not be replaced by AI, but we will be helped by AI. So a lot of the things could get easier and faster. It will be great if this would happen."
