Konami Announces Silent Hill 2 Remake

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the legendary game will feature improved graphics, new gameplay elements, and a familiar atmosphere.

A little over ten years since the release of the final Silent Hill game, Konami finally announced that they have some new and exciting SH-related projects in the works. One such project is the upcoming Silent Hill 2, a remake of James Sunderland's story that will feature improved visuals that emphasize the town's sinister atmosphere, new gameplay elements, such as the over-the-shoulder camera, and a novel combat system that promises to be more immersive than the original one.

According to Konami's announcement, the game is being developed by Bloober Team, a game development studio known for Blair Witch and The Medium, in collaboration with the creators of the original horror, including the legendary Concept Artist Masahiro Ito and Composer Akira Yamaoka. In the PlayStation team's recent blog post, Creative Director and Lead Designer at Bloober Team Mateusz Lenart also stated that the game is powered by Unreal Engine 5.

At the moment, there isn't much information about the upcoming remake's release date. What is known, however, is that the game will initially be launched on PC and PS5 only, with the latter as a console exclusive for a year. You can learn more about the upcoming game here.
