DoubleJump Academy shared a new workshop on environment art, Intro to Worldbuilding and Environments, breaking down the process of creating film-quality 3D environments.

The step-by-step learning path features 8 hours of content and provides a comprehensive introduction to creating cinematic 3D scenes, with thorough and structured knowledge placed together.

The instructor is freelance CG Generalist Ahmed Khalladi, who will guide you through the creation of his tribute project. The course covers not only building the 3D scenes, but also populating them with assets that you can use in your future projects as well.

More specifically, you will learn techniques for a faster and a more efficient workflow in the following fields:

  • Layout
  • Heightfields and Procedural Modeling for environments
  • Camera animation for environments
  • Procedural shading techniques
  • Custom Ocean Shading
  • Creating Custom Assets in SpeedTree
  • Organic Scattering Methods inside Houdini
