Legendary Secures TV & Film Rights to Capcom's Street Fighter

All of the studio's future SF-related projects will be developed in collaboration with the developer.

Legendary Entertainment, a US-based film production and mass media company, announced that it officially secured the exclusive live-action film and TV rights for Capcom's legendary fighting game series Street Fighter.

According to the studio, all of their future SF-related projects will be co-developed and produced in collaboration with Capcom itself, including the upcoming Street Fighter feature film, which is reportedly already in the works.

Upon its release, Legendary's Street Fighter movie will be the third series-based film produced by Hollywood. Earlier, filmmakers already tried to create live-action adaptations of the game, with the 1994 Street Fighter and the 2009 Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, both of which failed both critically and commercially. Hopefully, third time's a charm.

What do you think about the upcoming film? Will Legendary be able to produce a high-quality adaptation? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
