Magic Leap’s New AR Headset to Launch in Q4 2021

The team promises a device that is 50% smaller, 20% lighter, with 100% larger field of view.

Magic Leap CEO Peggy Johnson has recently shared some news on their projects at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The company announced that the enterprise-focused device is set to launch in late 2021 with a number of improvements.

Johnson didn’t share any specific details on the upcoming release but there was a slide indicating a Q4 2021 window for early access release. The slide also revealed that the team's second-gen headset will be "50% smaller, 20% lighter, with 100% larger field of view."

The original 2018 version weighs 316 g, has a 4:3 aspect ratio, and a horizontal FOV of 40 degrees, a vertical FOV of 30 degrees, and a FOV diagonal of 50 degrees.
