It's April, and the Maxon One Spring 2025 release has arrived, bringing new updates to the Maxon One product suite, including ZBrush for both desktop and iPad, Red Giant, Maxon Studio, Cinema 4D, Redshift, and Cineware.
The highly anticipated ZModeler tool is now available in ZBrush for iPad with a completely revamped UI, providing artists with advanced polygonal modeling capabilities on the go. This update also introduces NanoMesh support, allowing you to populate model areas with instanced geometry. In addition, UV Master, now integrated from the desktop version, offers an easy one-click solution for unwrapping 3D models, simplifying UV mapping and enhancing workflows by enabling seamless use of Surface Noise, Texture Maps, IMM brushes with UVs, and displacement mapping for detailed sculpting and texturing.
Additionally, the desktop version received new presets, enhanced Insert Edge Loop snapping controls, and an improved selection mode.
Red Giant received expanded support for DaVinci Resolve, offering editors and colorists powerful tools to stylize their projects with ease. Create authentic light flares based on real-world lens properties, add a cinematic glow effect, ideal for neon signs and sci-fi visuals, apply professional-grade color correction and filmic styles, and enjoy a collection of video effects, creative transitions, and stylized elements like VHS and Bokeh.
Cinema 4D introduces innovative new spline tools and enhanced simulation features for dynamic motion graphics. Key highlights include Rocket Lasso's Spline Modifiers, which are now integrated directly into Cinema 4D and enable the generation and manipulation of splines with advanced animation options, upgraded physics-based effects, and improved particle systems. Maxon also shared that Cinema 4D will soon feature a new liquid simulation toolset, so keep an eye out for upcoming updates.
Redshift now supports OpenPBR, enhancing compatibility with industry-standard OpenPBR materials.
Material graph baking for Cinema 4D Viewport enhances material previews, giving artists the ability to fine-tune textures before rendering. In Houdini, per-point attributes are smoothly interpolated into gradients on hair curves, simplifying the creation of complex multi-color strands and hair dye effects.
In both Houdini and Maya, the USD procedural allows for easy instancing of pipeline assets, now with added support for USD overrides to swap assets easily. For 3ds Max, the automatic conversion of V-Ray and Corona materials lets architectural and product visualization artists take advantage of Redshift's power without having to rebuild their material libraries.
Cineware for Unreal Engine 5 now supports the seamless transfer of rigged and animated characters, and over 100 new Maxon Studio Capsules and Vertical Templates for social media videos have been added.
