Media Molecule Co-Founder Has Left the Studio
Media Molecule co-founder and Dreams director Mark Healey has announced his departure from the company after 17 years of service.
Media Molecule's co-founder and the director of its PlayStation-exclusive game, Dreams, Mark Healey, has announced his departure from the company.
Healey revealed his resignation on Twitter. He did not provide any information about his future plans but noted that April 17 was his final day at the studio.
"So, after SEVENTEEN incredible years of co-birthing and building Media Molecule – I have decided it is time for me to fly the nest – set sail and chart a new course – today is my last day at MM," he wrote.
Following Healey's announcement, Media Molecule has released a statement saying that the team is fully prepared to carry on despite the recent changes in the team's structure.
"Whilst the recent changing shape of the team is undeniably a moment, our team of Molecules are ready to take up the baton," the statement reads. "In Dreams, we will be releasing the server migration, the wonderful Tren, and will continue curation and community support. We have a new project in the works, which is exciting but too early for us to talk about."
Mark Healey was one of the co-founders of Media Molecule and had previously worked at Lionhead Studios on Fable. During his time at Media Molecule, he held the positions of creative director for the first two parts of LittleBigPlanet and game director for Dreams.
Mark Healey's departure from Media Molecule came on the heels of the company's announcement that it would no longer provide active support for Dreams, a decision the developers described as difficult but necessary as they shift their focus to a new project.
