Pau Moreno Digón shared his take on the moment that enraged many players.
When The Last of Us Part 2 was released, many players were shocked and infuriated by one very memorable scene. There are spoilers ahead, so be cautious if you haven't tried the game yet.
The moment of Joel's death shook some but inspired others. Pau Moreno Digón, the co-founder and technical artist at 333Studios, shared his take on the scene, presenting a detailed environment, complete with the golf club and blood.
The artist used meshes from Megascans, scanned props from his house, modified and retextured online models, then created various props in Maya, went to Houdini to make the curtains and the snow simulation, and arranged it all in Unreal Engine.
Digón rendered the scene using Lumen in Unreal Engine 5.2 and worked with composition in DaVinci Resolve. The whole environment took him a day and a half.
Thanks to the creator's hard work, you can now look at the infamous scene from many angles. If you like this project, check out Digón's other creative endeavors on ArtStation.
