The name, specs, and the exact release date of the device, however, still remain unknown.
Less than a month after the release of Quest Pro, Meta's newest and the most advanced VR headset yet, the company confirmed that they are already working on a new device and stated that it will be launched in 2023.
During Meta's quarterly earnings call, CFO David Wehner announced that Meta expects its growth in cost to accelerate in the near future, in part due to the expected launch of the company's next consumer Quest headset next year. Unfortunately, Quest 3's technical details, approximate release date, and even its name have not been revealed during the meeting.
"Our growth in cost of revenue is expected to accelerate, driven by infrastructure-related expenses and, to a lesser extent, Reality Labs hardware costs driven by the launch of our next generation of our consumer Quest headset later next year,” David stated during the call.
One thing that can be speculated upon is the upcoming headset's price, as earlier this month, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told Stratechery that Quest 3 is "in the price range of $300, $400, $500, that zone."
