Modeling Long Curly Hair for a 3D Anime-Style Character

Here's some new eye candy from Kensyouen_Y.

3D Modeling Artist and Animator Kensyouen_Y has once again become a sensation in the 3D community, unveiling a mesmerizing hair modeling demo that turns the tedious process of setting up long, curly hair for a stylized 3D character into something as exciting as the final creation.

In their latest showcase, the artist offered a behind-the-scenes look at the anime-style, camera-shy girl featured in their recent animation, demonstrating how her gorgeous hairstyle was made. As explained by the author, the procedure consists of creating the inside while deciding the bone arrangement to a certain extent and then attaching the hair on the outside. "The more complicated the hairstyle, the fewer the number of bones you want to reduce – share the weight as much as possible to prevent bones from sinking in," Kensyouen_Y notes.

And here's the final animation in case you somehow missed it:

Previously, the author employed a similar technique to set up the coiffure for the unruly, fourth-wall-breaking anime-style 3D girl you all know and love:
