Mountaintop Studios Raises $5.5M For A Multiplayer Shooter
Oculus co-founder Nate Mitchell and his team are looking for talents to help them build a new experience.
Mountaintop, a studio led by Oculus co-founder Nate Mitchell, raised $5.5 million to develop a multiplayer FPS game.
The seed round is supported by unidentified investors, friends, and family. Mitchell teamed up with Matt Hansen (former chief operating officer at Double Fine), Rich Lyons (ex developer at Naughty Dog and Vigil), and Mark Terrano (former creative director at Oculus and cofounder at Hidden Path) to manage the studio.
The company has also hired nearly 20 full-time employees including veterans from Epic, Blizzard, Naughty Dog, Respawn, Infinity Ward, Ubisoft, Raven, Oculus, and more. They continue to look for talents, and you can find open positions here.
"Since we’re not tied to one city/state, we can bring together the very best team from all over, and folks can live/work from wherever they’re happiest," Mitchell told GamesBeat.
"There’s never been a better time to be making games," Mitchell added. "With incredible tools like Unreal Engine 4, a small veteran team can build even more impressive titles, focusing on amazing player experiences rather than reinventing foundational technology."
