New Add-On Simplifies Working With Trim Sheets in Substance 3D Designer

Check out Dete Trim Tool, a powerful plug-in that eliminates the need for complex node setups and manual blending while working with trim sheets.

Experienced 3D Artists Daniel Thiger and Marco Vitale have launched Dete Trim Tool, an incredible new tool for Substance 3D Designer that incorporates a unified workflow for creating trim sheets in the software and eliminates the need for complex node setups and manual blending, thus streamlining your production process and making it more convenient.

Offering a powerful and efficient way to create high-quality trim sheets while maintaining artistic control and optimizing performance, the add-on features a Dete Trim Profile node, which helps with the creation of elements with molding (profiles) on the 'top', 'bottom', or 'top and bottom', introduces the Trim Tool that lets you blend everything in one spot, and comes with an array of nodes to help with the process of adding details and creating effects or colors to your trim creations.

Key Features

  • Centralized Trim Management: The Dete Trim Tool provides a single node for managing all trim segments. This reduces node clutter, speeds up your graph, and simplifies adjustments.
  • Flexible Configuration: Define the desired output resolution, number of trim segments, and individual heights for each segment. The tool automatically calculates optimal placement and spacing within the trim sheet.
  • Helper Nodes: A suite of helper nodes that enable you to add various details and effects to your trims. These include random grayscale/color values, gradients, UVs, distance gradients, masks, and border profiles.
  • Molding Profiles: The Dete Trim Profile node allows you to create elements with customizable molding on the top, bottom, or both sides. This speeds up the process when making trim details.
  • Shared Data: Once you've configured the initial trim node, you can share the setup data with other trim nodes in your graph.
