JangaFX is inviting creators to test its new planet generation toolkit GeoGen.
Back in December last year, we shared that VFX software developer JangaFX, the development team behind EmberGen, announced GeoGen, its real-time terrain and planet generation tool. The team shared a short announcement trailer and revealed the tool should bring "node-based workflows, unique simulations, and workflow enhancements."

JangaFX shared that GeoGen is meant to be a fresh take on terrain and planet generation saying "with all of the incredible competition out there, we know that we have to take it to the next level."
The company released GeoGen in closed alpha. Described as "Substance 3D Designer, but for terrain and planets”, the software should become available to all users of the JangaFX Suite next month.
The team claims that the tool is being developed for real-time apps like games. Currently, the tool is available for a small group only – JangaFX announced the GeoGen closed alpha raffle on their Discord. Unfortunately, JangaFX hasn’t announced prices or the tool's features yet. Stay tuned for more.
In other news, JangaFX's Jason Key has recently showcased an Unreal Engine 5-powered 3D environment that has no traditional meshes, no polygons, and no texture maps. Learn more here.
