Nintendo 64 Texture Filtering Recreated In Unity

Check out a Reddit user Matias' retro-inspired works.

As a Reddit user known as Matias explained, the Nintendo 64 had a unique approach to bilinear filtering that resulted in hexagon-shaped artifacts, which allowed diagonal pixelated lines to appear sharp and straight. The developer attempted to replicate this effect in Unity using Shader Graph, likely for a Mario Kart-style game he's currently working on.

This project includes basic vehicle customization, character selection, control customization, and various Nintendo 64-inspired elements, which Matias recently showcased:

Matias is planning to post a tutorial soon. He's currently fixing some bugs with mipmapping that aren't very noticeable in the image above but become more apparent when viewing objects from a distance.
