Nintendo Doesn't Plan to Raise Switch Prices For Now

The company currently has no plans to increase the console prices, however, it doesn't rule out the possibility that it will raise them in the future.

Nintendo once again assured consumers that it currently has no plans to raise prices for Nintendo Switch consoles, although it noted that the hardware might see a price increase in the future.

As reported by Bloomberg's Takashi Mochizuki, during its latest earnings briefing, the company responded to a question about possible price rises by saying that "it won’t take such actions at this moment." However, it added that it will "continue monitoring [the] situation" and "carefully consider" whether it will have to implement a price hike.

Currently, the standard Switch is priced at $299.99, the handheld-only Switch Lite at $199.99, and the premium Switch OLED Model at $349.99.

Back in August, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa already stated that the company will not increase the Nintendo Switch prices "at this point" explaining that it wished to "avoid pricing people out."

Around the same time, responding to PlayStation 5 price hike news, Microsoft said that it recommended retail prices for Xbox Series X|S would remain the same.

However, a few months later, the company hinted at a possible price increase, with Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer saying that the company won't be able to hold prices forever and will have to "raise some prices on certain things" at some point.

As for Nintendo, it doesn't seem that it will raise prices in the near future, at least not before the holidays as it could influence its ability to sell as many consoles as usual. However, it won't be surprising if the company announces the price hike after Christmas and New Year.
